Djibouti Celebrates 47 Years of Independence and Unity

Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Djibouti has on Thursday celebrated its 47th Independence Day with national pride and a message of unity. Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf took to social media platform X to express his heartfelt wishes to his fellow countrymen and women.

“I wish to all my fellow countrymen and women a happy national day. Forty-seven years of independence and stability is indeed something we can all be proud of as Djiboutians. Happy 47th Independence Day, my Djibouti!” Youssouf posted.

Highlighting the nation’s diverse cultural tapestry, Fadumo Mohamed, a prominent Djiboutian figure, also shared her sentiments.

“Proud to stand with my fellow Djiboutians, celebrating our unity, strength, and the beautiful blend of Somali, Afar, Arab, and other communities. Our diversity is our power, and together, we forge a brighter future,” Fahima Mohamed said on X.

The celebration was marked by congratulatory messages from neighboring countries and allies, including Somalia, Ethiopia, and Qatar, all wishing Djibouti prosperity and continued success.

Despite facing challenges, such as security threats from the Houthis in the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, Djibouti remains a strategic country, hosting military bases for several powerful nations. This position underscores its importance on the global stage and its commitment to maintaining stability in the region.
