Djibouti City – The Djibouti Swimming Federation has officially hosted a national swimming competition aimed at selecting talented athletes to represent the country in upcoming regional and international events.

The competition, held at the National Swimming Pool in the capital Djibouti City, attracted young swimmers from the capital and northern regions, including Obock and Tadjoura. Participants showcased a range of swimming techniques, including backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.

The event’s primary goal was to identify and recruit high-performing athletes into Djibouti’s national swimming team, who will subsequently undergo specialized training to prepare them for competitive engagements.

Daoud Adab, Secretary-General of the Djibouti Swimming Federation, lauded the efforts of the youth participants and acknowledged the support of various institutions that contributed to the event’s success.

“This competition reflects Djibouti’s commitment to developing its athletes, particularly in aquatic sports,” said Adab.

The Djibouti Swimming Federation reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing new talent and improving the country’s swimming infrastructure in order to elevate Djibouti’s visibility and competitiveness on the global stage.
