Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation of Djibouti has officially launched the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2030, a landmark initiative aimed at securing the nation’s cyberspace and supporting its ongoing digital transformation.

The event, presided over by Minister Mariam Hamadou Ali, brought together key government figures, including Minister of Interior Saïd Nouh Hassan, Minister of Infrastructure Hassan Houmed Ibrahim, and Minister of Commerce Mohamed Warsama Dirieh.

Strategic stakeholders such as Hassan Saïd Khaireh, Director General of National Security, and Krystian Spodaryk, EU Chargé d’Affaires, were also present alongside diplomats, cybersecurity experts, and private sector partners.

This ambitious roadmap underscores the collective responsibility of cybersecurity, calling for coordinated mobilization across public and private institutions. Key actions outlined in the strategy include:

  • Creation of a National Cybersecurity Center to enhance digital resilience.
  • Improved digital security infrastructure for critical systems.
  • Development of a robust legal framework to combat cybercrime effectively.

Speaking at the event, EU representative Krystian Spodaryk emphasized the essential role of cybersecurity in safeguarding critical infrastructures and daily life. “The digital world shapes every aspect of our lives today. Ensuring cybersecurity is now an imperative,” she stated.

Hassan Saïd Khaireh, Director General of National Security, hailed the initiative as a milestone in building a resilient digital future, praising President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh’s leadership in prioritizing cybersecurity alongside digital transformation.

Minister of Interior Saïd Nouh Hassan stressed the need for constant vigilance against cyber threats. “These challenges remind us that no one is immune. Every citizen, business, and institution is potentially at risk,” he remarked.

The National Cybersecurity Strategy reflects Djibouti’s commitment to establishing international-standard frameworks to protect its citizens, institutions, and critical infrastructures from evolving cyber threats.
