Djibouti Police in collaboration with the Regional Tax Authority in Ali Sabieh region, captured 4,200 kilograms of contraband miraa in a joint crackdown conducted in Ali Sabieh district on Sunday.The joint team uncovered huge amount of miraa concealed within sacks, and later burned them. The origin of the smuggled miraa remains unknown.Djibouti authorities have set strict measures and strengthened efforts to combat the illegal trafficking of miraa within the country.Speaking on local television, the law enforcement officers, issued stern warnings to the public against involvement in any illegal trade related to contraband goods.In recent weeks, Djibouti’s law enforcement authorities have increased their monitoring and crackdown on illicit activities, particularly focusing on the illegal trade of substances such as miraa, as part of their ongoing efforts to uphold security and enforce the law.
