Libreville, Gabon – President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh of the Republic of Djibouti arrived on May 2, 2025 in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, to attend the inauguration ceremony of Gabon’s newly elected president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.President Guelleh received a warm welcome upon his arrival at Libreville International Airport. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place today at the Presidential Palace, with the attendance of African and international dignitaries.Accompanying the President are senior government officials, including Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdoulkader Hussein, and Djibouti’s Ambassador to Gabon, Mohamed Bourhan Ali, reflecting the importance Djibouti places on diplomatic engagement in the region.Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, a former senior military officer, assumed power in August 2023 following a military coup that ousted former President Ali Bongo Ondimba. He officially won the presidency in the national election held on April 12, 2025, securing 94.85% of the vote.
