Washington, D.C – A high-level delegation led by the Minister of Economy and Finance of Djibouti, Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, held a key meeting in Washington, D.C. with top officials from the World Bank and global development organizations.
The delegation met with Ousmane Diagana, Vice President for Western and Central Africa at the World Bank, where discussions focused on:
- Boosting Djibouti’s economic sectors
- Tackling youth unemployment
- Attracting new investments
- Addressing climate change
The meeting reinforced Djibouti’s cooperation with international financial institutions.
Minister Dawaleh and his team later met with the senior council of ADRA and the organization’s deputy head, where they discussed Djibouti’s growing role in:
- Regional security
- Curbing irregular migration
- Developing national infrastructure
Djibouti is strategically enhancing its global role by positioning itself as the primary trade gateway connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, capitalizing on its proximity to the Red Sea and global shipping lanes.
The country also plays a pivotal role in defense, logistics, and energy cooperation, reinforcing its status in regional and international affairs.
