Djibouti, April 23, 2025 – The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, paid an important diplomatic visit to Djibouti, where he was welcomed at the Djiboutian Presidential Palace and met with President Ismail Omar Guelleh. The meeting between the two presidents included bilateral talks, and the signing of several agreements.The two presidents agreed to launch a joint program aimed at securing Djibouti’s energy future. This includes the rehabilitation of the national electricity grid and the construction of solar and wind power plants. A solar power plant in the village of Omar Jaka is expected to be officially inaugurated in the coming days.On the economic front, the presidents announced the creation of the Joint Egypt-Djibouti Business Council and the opening of the Bank of Egypt’s branch in Djibouti. They also discussed the expansion of the Doraleh container port and the construction of new trade roads.In terms of regional security, the two leaders expressed support for the unity and sovereignty of Somalia and condemned efforts to undermine Sudan’s national institutions. They also emphasized the importance of securing the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, stressing that the coastal states are responsible for the safety of this vital maritime corridor.President El-Sisi also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and expressed readiness to fully cooperate in supporting the reconstruction of Gaza through the Arab countries’ plan.
