Addis Ababa, Ethiopia(Mogadishu24)–Ethiopia and the European Union (EU), alongside EU Member States, held their second Structured Dialogue on Tuesday to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.The Ethiopian delegation, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Gedion Timothewos, engaged with the EU delegation headed by Ambassador Sofie From-Emmesberger, the EU representative to Ethiopia, and 21 Ambassadors and Heads of Mission from EU Member States.Discussions focused on three key areas:Regional peace, stability, and recovery, including counter-terrorism efforts.Economic development, trade, finance, and environmental sustainability.Cooperation in multilateral frameworks.Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral relations and intensify cooperation, building on the outcomes of the first Structured Dialogue held in December 2023. The dialogue aligns with the 2016 Joint Declarationon EU-Ethiopia Strategic Engagement and the recently signed Samoa Agreement on November 15, 2023, between Ethiopia and EU Member States.Ethiopia-EU relations are further strengthened by ongoing financial and trade programs, including the EU Multi-Annual Indicative Programme for Ethiopia, bilateral initiatives by individual EU Member States, and the “Everything But Arms” trade regime.The dialogue highlights the commitment of both parties to promote peace, stability, economic growth, and cooperation in addressing regional and global challenges.
