Addis Ababa(Mogadishu24)-Ethiopia has signed a $620 million agreement with the United Arab Emirates’ AMEA Power to develop the 300MW Aysha-1 wind project, set to become the largest wind energy project in the Horn of Africa.The signing ceremony, attended by Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide and UAE officials, marks a significant step in Ethiopia’s commitment to green energy and energy diversification.AMEA Power will build, own, and operate the wind farm, with the energy generated to be sold to Ethiopian Electric Power under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.The project, located in the Siti region of the Somali State in Ethiopia, is seen as a cornerstone of Ethiopia’s national energy policy and a milestone in the country’s renewable energy growth.
