Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somalia’s Custodial Corps Command on Saturday revealed that the forces killed five Al-Shabaab inmates who attempted to fight with forces guarding the central Prison of Mogadishu.

The Command also displayed photos of the dead bodies through the social media run by the State Media after the operation, it did not provide details about the possibility of the group prisoners’ access weapons, and bombs inside and then fight to escape.

Sources the death toll and casualties in general are more than those identified by the Somali Custodial Corps, Members from the Police and prisons guards were among those killed and injuring during the exchange of fire between the two sides that lasted more than an hour.

Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the latest attack on the main prison under the Somali Federal Government in the capital Mogadishu, and the attack came after month of relative peace in the city.
