Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is running for the position of Chair of the African Union Commission (AUC), announced his appreciation for the support from former Somali Foreign Minister Fawziya Yusuf Adam.

Following their meeting, Odinga expressed gratitude for her endorsement and wished her continued success in her efforts to champion Africa’s progress.

Fawziya Yusuf Adam Withdraws Candidacy, Backs Odinga

Fawziya Yusuf Adam, who was previously a candidate for the AUC leadership, confirmed her support for Odinga’s bid after her government withdrew her candidacy in favor of Djibouti’s candidate, Mahmoud Ali Yousef.

“I am delighted to announce my support for the Right Honourable Raila Odinga in his bid for Chair of the African Union Commission. I extend my heartfelt wishes for his success in this important endeavor,” Fawziya stated on X.

A Competitive Race

The race for the AUC leadership has attracted four veteran candidates from Djibouti, Kenya, Mauritius, and Madagascar. As the competition intensifies, endorsements like Fawziya’s play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of this significant continental leadership contest.
