Gedo, Somalia – The Governor of Gedo, Mohamed Hussein Al-Qaadi, has warned the National Election Commission and National Boundaries against plans to hold elections in the region, stating that they will not allow elections to take place without mutual agreement.Al-Qaadi mentioned that some members of the National Election Commission and National Boundaries have recently stated that elections would be held in Gedo, which he described as unacceptable.He firmly stated that there is no election committee that is agreed upon by both Jubaland and the Federal Government, adding that if they attempt to carry out such plans, they will be held accountable for any resulting consequences.“I warn the members of the Election Commission not to attempt or sneak in under any false pretense. If any harm comes of it, they will be responsible for it,” said the Governor.Gedo, a region in Jubaland, is one of the areas where the Election Commission has indicated plans to hold direct elections.
