Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has strongly condemned the deadly Al-Shabaab bombing that occurred on Friday at Liido Public Beach in Mogadishu, Somalia. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives and left many others injured.In a statement, IGAD’s Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured. “We denounce this barbaric act of terror in the strongest terms. Such cowardly attacks will not undermine the resolve of the Somali government, its resilient people, or the region at large. Instead, it will strengthen our collective determination to rebuild Somalia and eliminate the scourge of terrorism,” Dr. Workneh stated.IGAD reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting the Somali government in ensuring peace and stability in the region. The organization stands in solidarity with the government and people of Somalia, praising their dedication to rebuilding their nation and serving as an inspiration for those facing similar challenges worldwide.The attack at Liido Public Beach underscores the ongoing threat posed by Al-Shabaab, but it also highlights the resilience and determination of the Somali people and their allies in the fight against terrorism.The Somali Government said that at least 32 people mostly civilians were killed and 63 others injured in the attack. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed 54 and injured 87 others, but caused casualties than the claims.
