Mogadishu, April 4, 2025 – The Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia has announced the arrest of 124 Somali youths who were attempting to undertake illegal migration journeys over the past three months. These youths, aged between 18 and 25, were intercepted while planning to leave the country unlawfully for destinations in Europe, Asia, and Africa.In a press release, the agency stated that all those apprehended were found with evidence linking them to illegal migration activities and were handed over to the relevant federal security authorities.The agency also pledged to intensify its efforts in combating human smuggling by thoroughly investigating individuals and travel agencies involved in facilitating these unlawful journeys.Furthermore, the agency announced plans to launch an awareness campaign targeting Somali youth and parents to enhance understanding of the dangers of illegal migration and the life-threatening risks posed by sea crossings.
