Kismayo(Mogadishu24)-Jubaland State has issued a sharp accusation against the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), claiming it undermined recent anti-Al-Shabaab efforts in Lower Juba.According to a statement released by Jubaland’s Ministry of Security on Saturday evening, Jubaland forces conducted the latest operation alone in areas of Orgiyow and Bula-Haji between November 6 and 9, while Somali National Army (SNA) forces allegedly withdrew from frontline positions. The statement further claimed that FGS offered financial incentives to soldiers to retreat to the interim capital, Kismayo, for political gain, risking setbacks in the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab.Jubaland’s Ministry of Security warned that such moves could lead to operational failure and destabilize the region, putting Kismayo’s security at risk.“This could result in social displacement and rekindle internal conflicts within Jubaland regions,” the Ministry stated. It also called on the Somali public and stakeholders to take note of recent actions by the FGS, warning that they could fuel tribal tensions and undermine regional security. This statement comes amid heightened tensions between FGS and Jubaland, which intensified after Jubaland’s President Ahmed Mohamed Islam boycotted the National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting in Mogadishu, joining Puntland in opposition.Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has reportedly canceled a planned trip to Qatar, as the situation remains unresolved.
