Mogadishu – The Jubaland Presidency has strongly spoken out on Somalia’s political situation, particularly condemning the recent step taken by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in announcing the Justice and Solidarity Party (JSP).

In an official statement, Jubaland accused President Hassan Sheikh of demonstrating a serious lack of responsibility and failing in his leadership of the country, warning that his actions have led Somalia into a dangerous political crisis.

Jubaland further stated that the president’s move clearly violates the country’s constitution and seriously undermines national unity. The regional administration also claimed that parliamentary powers have been usurped, rendering members of both houses ineffective and unable to properly fulfill their constitutional duties of oversight and government accountability.

The statement reads, “The role of both chambers of the Federal Parliament of Somalia has been blatantly disregarded, as all their powers have been usurped, reducing them to powerless bodies unable to perform their constitutional responsibilities of safeguarding the Constitution and overseeing the Government.”

Moreover, Jubaland called for an urgent national consultative conference to discuss and find solutions for saving the country. It urged all political stakeholders, civil society, and the Somali people at large to stand united in protecting the fragile statehood and national unity.

Finally, the statement sent a serious message to the international community, urging them to take immediate action to address the ongoing political turmoil and ensure Somalia remains on the path of peace and development.
