Nairobi, Kenya(Mogadishu24)-Kenyan President William Ruto held a high-level security meeting in Nairobi with U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William J. Burns and Kenya’s Director of Intelligence, Nuuradin Mohamed Haji, to discuss ongoing security challenges and collaborative strategies.

The talks focused on counter-terrorism, anti-extremism measures, and combating organized crime, issues that have long posed threats to stability in the region.

President Ruto praised the partnership between Kenya and the U.S., emphasizing the importance of global alliances in enhancing peace and security.

“Peace and security in our region have been significantly boosted by the close collaboration between us and our partners worldwide. This cooperation has helped us roll back the threats of terrorism, radicalization, violent extremism, and organized crime,” Ruto said.

He reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to remain vigilant against these destabilizing forces, pledging continued efforts to safeguard gains in stability, democracy, and economic growth.

The U.S. has a military base in Kenya and maintains a strong security alliance with the East African nation, which is one of the five troop-contributing countries (TCCs) to the African Union Mission in Somalia.

While CIA Director Burns did not comment publicly on the visit, the high-profile meeting underscored the enduring security ties between Kenya and the U.S., with a shared goal of promoting regional stability.
