Rabat(Mogadishu24)-Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government,Mohamed Abdi Hayer Maareye attended the 33rd Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa in Morocco this week, that aimed at providing a space to exchange knowledge and effective implementation of the Livestock Development Strategy for African.The conference underscored the critical role of livestock in Africa, not only for food and nutrition security but also for livelihoods, inclusive growth, job creation for youth and women, poverty alleviation, and environmental sustainability according to FAO Chief, QU Dongyu.“it’s good to have meetings like this to share our skills, experience and expertise on rural transformation, mechanization, digitalization and so on. At the current situation of climate change shocks, rural transformation is vital for Africa”, Maareye said during the roundtable meeting.“We are also developing a comprehensive Agricultural recovery and development strategy”, he added.The Minister also held talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Mohammed SADIKI on the sidelines of the FAO regional conference, sharing expertise regarding to technology for developing the agriculture and irrigation fields.
