Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-At least one person was on Wednesday Morning killed after mortar rounds landed into residential areas, specially Bondhere district near Somalia’s Presidential Palace.

“I heard a terrible and laud sounds of mortar shells in my neighborhood early in the morning after Fajr prayer, I was terrified and I looked at my neighbors from my room window and saw smoke then the cry of some members of the family. I learned that the old woman in the family died on spot. there were other rounds near Daljir, but I did know if there were casualties”, an eyewitness told Mogadishu24 by phone.

Family members of the victim told Local F.M stations in Mogadishu that the attack happened while most of them were sleeping, except the deceased old woman who was praying at the time.

The Somali Government Security Agencies did not comment on the latest mortar attack in Mogadishu so far.

Al-Shabaab also did not claim the responsibility for the attack, but this is not the first attack to happen in Bondhere and Warta-Nabbada districts in Benadir region and causes civilians casualties.

The attack comes months of relevant peace in the capital, despite remote control bomb attacks which were targeted to SNA armed vehicles and Hormuud Telecommunication Properties.
