MOGADISHU – May 19, 2025 – The newly appointed United Kingdom Ambassador to Somalia, Charles King, has officially arrived in Mogadishu to assume his role as the UK’s top diplomat in the country.

Ambassador King will lead the British Embassy in Mogadishu, with a key focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the United Kingdom and Somalia. His priorities will include promoting good governance, development, security, and humanitarian assistance.

In a statement upon his arrival, Ambassador King expressed his gratitude and commitment to deepening relations with the Somali people and government.

“It is an honour to serve as the UK Ambassador to Somalia. I look forward to working closely with my Somali counterparts as we strive together for peace and progress,” he said.

The new ambassador is expected to hold meetings with senior officials from the Federal Government of Somalia and a wide range of stakeholders to reinforce the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
