Godey – A pilot project aimed at reducing malnutrition among mothers and children has been officially launched in the city of Godey. The initiative is being implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) in collaboration with local authorities in the Somali Regional State (SRS).The project will specifically be carried out in four target districts within the SRS: Qallaafe, Qabridahar, Xamaro, and Doollo-bay. Its primary objective is to deliver balanced and nutritious food to mothers and children in order to reduce the rates of malnutrition affecting vulnerable communities.The launch ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of the SRS Health , Mr. Mahmoud Mohamed, along with officials from the Shabelle Region and representatives from WFP.The participants jointly emphasized the importance of the project to the local community, particularly during the pilot phase, and expressed hope that its success could pave the way for broader implementation in the future.It is expected that the project will prove effective and beneficial in the selected districts, helping to improve the nutritional health of mothers and children living in these areas.
