MOGADISHU, Somalia – Several key opposition leaders in Somalia are scheduled to hold an important political meeting today at the residence of Macallin Nuur, located near the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu. The meeting will focus on crucial national matters, including preparations for the upcoming elections, a review of the constitution, and the current political situation in the country.

The political figures expected to attend include former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former Prime Ministers Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke and Hassan Ali Khaire, MP Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, and former minister and Sufi leader Abdulqadir Macallin Nuur.

This high-profile gathering comes shortly after the arrival of former Prime Ministers Khaire and Sharmarke in Mogadishu on 22 May 2025.

The opposition leaders have expressed concerns about the lack of unity in the country’s political leadership. They are expected to discuss their joint concerns regarding the failure of the National Consultative Forum and the President’s inability to unite political factions as they said.
