Abukar OsmanHargeisa, Somaliland – The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), held an important meeting at the Presidential Palace with Ms. Nelli Mikkola, the Deputy Ambassador of Finland to Somalia.According to Somaliland’s Presidential Office, the meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations, especially in areas such as peacebuilding, social development, and institutional support. President Cirro thanked the Government of Finland for its continuous support to the people of Somaliland.He highlighted the key needs of Somaliland that Finland could support, including health, education, vocational training, and strengthening government institutions.For her part, Deputy Ambassador Nelli Mikkola praised the smooth electoral process in Somaliland and the peaceful transfer of power.She stated that Finland is ready to support Somaliland in areas like health, education, and conflict mediation.Nelli Mikkola became Finland’s Deputy Ambassador to Somalia in August 2024. Her first visit to Mogadishu was in May 2024, where she held important meetings with Somali government officials, especially at the Ministry of Interior.
