By Asha ElmiMOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has announced that the Consultative Forum of Political and Community Leaders will convene on June 15, 2025, in Mogadishu. The presidency stated that the forum aims to establish genuine dialogue grounded in the national interest.The announcement was made in an official statement from the presidency today following extensive consultations over recent weeks with various stakeholders, including former national leaders, federal member states, political parties, and civil society representatives.“Recognizing the importance of sincere consultations rooted in the public interest, the President will continue holding preparatory meetings for this forum, focusing on priority issues related to state-building,” the statement said.Political and community leaders have been urged to prepare themselves and respond to the President’s official invitation.The forum was initially pledged by the President on March 29, 2025, and nearly two months have passed since that commitment. A special committee led by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hassan Macalin Mahmoud, has been tasked with organizing the forum.
