Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday reached Wargadhi area near the port district of Adala in Middle Shabelle region which is about 120 kilometers east of the capital Mogadishu.

Villa Somalia said in a brief statement that the President listened to reports from senior officials of the Somali National Army about the latest military gains against terrorists, and short term plan towards liberating areas still under Al-Shabaab.

Photos show the President in a military uniform, landing from helicopter and then holding meeting army officers including SNA Chief, Ibrahim Sh. Muhayadin and Infantry Commander, Dayah Abdi Abdulle.

President Hassan’s visit came amid reports that the President was going to lay the foundation of a new airport at either Warksheikh district or Wargadhi area with assistance from the International Partners. Mogadishu24 could not verify the report and whether airport would be used for military purposes like Belidogle in lower Shabelle region or not.
