Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud chaired a meeting of the National Committee to combat money laundering and prevent terrorist financing at the National Security Office of the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.

The committee discussed progress in the fight against Al-Shabaab and outlined new plans to disrupt the terrorist group’s economy according to a brief statement from Villa Somalia on Thursday evening.

The President emphasized the critical importance of targeting the financial networks of terrorists to achieve peace and stability in Somalia.

He directed the committee leaders to develop comprehensive strategies to destroy Al-Shabaab’s financial resources and mitigate financial risks, particularly focusing on eliminating money laundering activities.
