Washington, D.C.(Mogadishu24)-Kenyan President, William Ruto emphasized the importance of digital partnerships during a roundtable on technology hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday. The meeting, aimed at bolstering technology cooperation between Kenya and the United States, highlighted the transformative potential of digital investments.President Ruto praised the United States for its commitment to enhancing the digital landscape. “No partnership is as valuable as one that is anchored on technology,” he stated, expressing optimism that increased resources in the digital space will expand opportunities and transform lives in Kenya and across Africa.Following the roundtable, President Ruto met with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson and engaged with members of Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties at the U.S. Capitol. He reiterated the importance of Kenya-U.S. cooperation, particularly in resolving conflicts and tackling insecurity in the Horn of Africa.During his visit, President Ruto also held discussions with U.S. Senators, including Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell. These talks focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring ways to address shared challenges.In recognition of his contributions, President Ruto was named an Honorary Member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). He acknowledged the crucial role the CBC plays in promoting social justice, human rights, and economic development worldwide. “A bold, robust, and targeted approach will free Africa of the debt burden and transform the world,” he asserted, urging Congress to lead efforts in reconfiguring the global financial architecture to ensure equitable power distribution.The Kenyan leader also paid tribute to American service members by visiting Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, where he honored the fallen heroes of the United States.President Ruto’s visit underscores the deepening ties between Kenya and the United States, with a shared commitment to leveraging technology for development and addressing global challenges collaboratively.
