Bosaso, Somalia – Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Forces have announced the killing of nearly 50 fighters affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) in Somalia during a large-scale operation carried out over the past 24 hours in Togga Miraale, located in the Bari region.

According to statement from Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Forces, the offensive targeted a key strategic area that had long served as a stronghold for the group. In addition to neutralizing the militants, security forces reportedly seized a significant cache of weapons, supplies, and military equipment.

Officials confirmed that the operation is ongoing, with forces continuing to pursue remaining ISIS elements within the valley.

The mission forms part of the third phase of Puntland’s multi-stage campaign to eliminate ISIS presence in the region. Authorities have indicated that a fourth phase will be launched soon, aiming for the complete removal of the group from the mountainous areas of northeastern Somalia.

The Puntland Adminstration has reiterated its commitment to counterterrorism efforts and to securing the region from extremist threats.
