GAROWE, PUNTLAND – The Puntland Military Court has handed down prison sentences to four individuals accused of plotting bomb attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), in what officials described as a serious threat to regional stability.The convicted individuals were charged with planning terrorist acts that posed a grave danger to public safety across parts of Puntland. The court issued the following sentences:Ali Abdullahi: 30 years imprisonmentMohamed Dahir: 10 years imprisonmentAbdifatah Hashi: 10 years imprisonmentJaylani Sidow: Released without chargeAccording to the court, the suspects were arrested in possession of drones intended for use in explosive attacks. The presiding judge stated that the court’s decision was based on the severity of the alleged crimes and the potential threat they posed to regional security.“These verdicts serve as a clear warning to those seeking to destabilize Puntland. We will not tolerate attempts to undermine peace and public safety,” said the Chief Judge of the Puntland Military Court.The court also noted that the ruling is part of a broader campaign to counter terrorism and preserve stability in Puntland. A 30-day appeal window has been granted for any party wishing to challenge the verdicts.
