By Asha ElmiBosaso – Puntland has released images showing the bodies of 35 ISIS militants killed in ongoing operations in the Bari region. The operation, which resulted in the deaths of these fighters, was part of efforts to combat ISIS groups operating in the region.According to Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operations, the operation took place on June 3, 2025, between Miraale and Baalade, in the Calmiskaad Mountains of Puntland. The operation involved Puntland Special Forces and U.S. AFRICOM troops.“Over 35 terrorists were eliminated, with the participation of Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Forces, Puntland combat helicopters, and U.S. allies working alongside Puntland forces,” said Puntland’s Counter-Terrorism Operations on X.Puntland forces also reported that they destroyed caches of weapons and military supplies held by ISIS, marking a key success in their efforts to fight against the group.This operation is part of Puntland’s ongoing efforts to ensure security and combat armed groups operating in the Calmiskaad Mountains of the Bari region, which authorities say pose a significant threat to regional stability.
