Garowe(Mogadishu24)-Puntland State President Said Abdullahi Deni has on dismissed Colonel Jimale Jama Takar from his position as the Commander of Danab Forces in the region, Mogadishu24 reported Sunday. This decision comes as tensions escalate between President Deni and the opposition, leading to clashes and a rising death toll.Colonel Jimale Jama Takar was among the members of the Danab forces who expressed opposition to President Deni’s proposed political system. The disagreement over this proposed system has ignited clashes between the Puntland Police forces and opposition forces, further fueling the already volatile situation in the region.President Deni’s action in dismissing the Commander of Danab Forces aligns with his on-going conflict with the opposition, which has resulted in a series of dismissals within the government.Just weeks ago, President Deni had fired his Security Minister, Abdisamad Mohamed Galan, and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdiweli Hirsi Mire. The International partners called sides in Puntland for the immediate de-escalation of tensions and a return to calm.“We call on all political stakeholders to engage in dialogue as the only avenue to address and resolve differences”.The escalation risks jeopardizing the positive outcomes secured following the recent district council elections in Puntland according to the statement by the International Partners.
