Puntland forces have announced that they killed a member of the Daesh group in the mountainous area of Calmiskaad.

In a written statement released by the Puntland Counter-Terrorism Command, they stated that the forces killed a Daesh member who was engaged in planting landmines between the areas of Turmasaale and Makadaan.

“The forces today killed a member of the Daesh terrorist group who was planting landmines between Turmasaale and Makadaan,” the statement said.

The forces further mentioned that the explosives the slain militant was carrying were safely detonated.

Operations under “Operation Hilaac,” aimed at combating militant groups in Puntland, particularly Daesh, are still ongoing.

The Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operation is now in its third phase, and yesterday the President of Puntland announced that the third phase of the operation is nearing completion.
