Massawa(Mogadishu24)-Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov together with a delegation arrived in Massawa, Eritrea to attend a celebration aimed at marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between Russia and Eritrea.The group’s arrival in the late afternoon was warmly received by a host of Eritrean officials, including General Filipos Woldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Defense Forces, and Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports, along with several Army Commanders.The visit, underscoring the longstanding ties between the two nations, included members of the Russian Pacific Fleet aboard the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov.The delegation paid homage to Eritrea’s history by visiting the Martyrs Cemetery and the Massawa Museum. Additionally, in a display of camaraderie, naval officials participated in a friendly football match against the Eritrean Naval Force’s team, further solidifying the warm relations between the two countries.
