Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Shabelle River is overflowing, posing an imminent threat of devastating floods due to heavy rains in the mountainous areas of the Somali regional state in Ethiopia.

Authorities have warned residents in cities along the riverbanks, particularly Limay, Qalafo, Mustahil, and Ferfer, to evacuate to safer areas.

In Somalia, the same river, Shabelle, which passes through Beledweyne, Jalalaqsi, and Bula-burte in the Hiiraan region, is also at high risk of flooding.

Regional authorities in Hirshabelle state have issued a high alert for potential flooding in Beledweyne, Bula-burte, Jalalaqsi, and Balcad. These areas, particularly Beledweyne, are frequently affected by floods, causing routine displacement of residents who have expressed deep concern over the looming threat.
