Mogadishu, Somalia – At least six people were injured when mortars were fired at two neighborhoods in the capital, Mogadishu, early this morning, according to security officials.Ali Ahmed, a security official from the Shibis district, spoke to Anadolu and confirmed that the Warta Nabada and Bondhere districts were targeted in the mortar attacks, which resulted in at least six people being injured. Two of the injured, including a teacher and an elderly woman, were brought to a hospital with serious injuries.“We do not know the exact target, but the Presidential Palace is located in the Warta Nabada district, which is one of the places where the mortars hit,” said Ali Ahmed.It was also reported that Somali security forces arrived at the scene and imposed a security cordon around the area. Investigations are underway to determine the type of mortars used in the attack.No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, although Al-Shabaab has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks. This is not the first time mortars have been fired at neighborhoods in Mogadishu; on March 20, 2025, multiple mortars were fired at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
