SoDMA Denies Involvement in Medical Supplies Displayed in Moqokori

Moqokori, Hirshabelle — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has officially denied any involvement in the recent distribution of medical supplies showcased in the Moqokori district.

The aid, which was presented by the Hiiraan regional administration on May 25, 2025, was described by the Hirshabelle administration as consisting of materials insufficient to meet the severe needs of the region and was not expected from SoDMA.

SoDMA clarified that the medicines recently displayed were not provided by the agency and emphasized that it has no association with the aid efforts purportedly linked to it.

“We hereby affirm, on behalf of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency, that the medicines we have supplied and those seen circulating on social media have no connection or cooperation with each other,” stated Abdullahi Muse Ahmed (Fanax), SoDMA’s Health Director.

Fanax further stated that the responsibility for the misleading display lies with those who presented the supplies and falsely accused the agency.

The Health Department of SoDMA also disclosed that it has prepared a significant shipment of emergency medicines; however, limitations in air transport capacity allowed only one ton of medicine to be delivered.

SoDMA released a list of the medicines it has dispatched to Moqokori, clarifying that some of the items shown to the public were not supplied by the agency.

The materials displayed in Moqokori included medicines used to combat infectious diseases, protective boots for motorcycle drivers, two cartons of disinfectants, one carton of tablets, and a carton of syrup with an expiration date two months away.
