Asmara, Eritrea(Mogadishu24)-Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held extensive discussions on bilateral, regional, and international issues at State House in Asmara, according to Eritrean Information Minister Yemane Meskel Thursday.The talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas of sovereignty, security, and nation-building.Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and unity, recognizing these as essential for the country’s development amidst the challenges it has faced over the past two decades.They agreed that building a strong nation requires robust institutions, especially in defense and security.Eritrea’s ongoing support in training Somalia’s national army was highlighted as a key component of this collaboration. The two sides agreed to expand their cooperation in other areas crucial to nation-building.While Villa Somalia has yet to release details on the ongoing talks, officials confirmed that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is expected to join the discussions later today.
