Mohamud and his Eritrean counterpart,Isaias Afwerki on Sunday evening discussed enhancing bilateral ties and partnership over ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Somalia.“Pre. Isaias Afwerki & Pre. Hassan S. Mohamud held extensive meeting at State House yesterday evening on enhancement of bilateral ties of partnership as well as relevant regional & international matters. Pre. Hassan briefed his host on Somalia’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism”, Yemane G. Meskel, Information Minister of Eritrea said on X Monday.President Hassan is in Eritrea for two-day working visit, aiming at to boost security cooperation, following deadly terrorist attack on SYL Hotel in the capital Mogadishu Friday while intending to bring Somali trained soldiers there back home.Eritrea has trained and equipped over 10,000 Somali soldiers, including specialized forces, who will play vital roles in our future national army, naval forces, and air forces according to the President.
