Halgan(Mogadishu24)-At least 60 Al-Shabaab militants were on Sunday morning killed and others injured after the Somali National Army and International Partners conducted a joint operation west of Halgan town in Hiiraan region in central Somalia.Government officials said that the operation lasted several hours, destroying Al-Shabaab bases in the area. “The joint operation is still going on with developments, further details will follow soon”, The Government said.Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the latest military progress in areas under Hiiraan region.Hiiraan region is one of the worst areas in which riverine floods and heavy rains hit, causing heavy casualties, losses of lives, properties and displaced most communities in Beledweyne, Bula-burte and Jalalaqsi districts.The operation comes a day after the Federal Government of Somalia celebrated the decision of the United Nations Security Council’s resolution on lifting arms embargo on Somalia since 1992.
