BARJALA, Somalia – The Somali National Army (SNA), supported by Jubbaland regional forces, has announced the killing of more than 48 Al-Shabaab militants and the destruction of key militant bases in an overnight operation near Barjala in the Lower Juba region.According to the Somali Armed Forces’ media unit, the special forces unit Danab carried out the raid with precision, targeting strategic Al-Shabaab outposts crucial to the group’s logistical and operational network in the area.“Over 48 members of the Khawarij [Al-Shabaab] were neutralized during the operation, and two others were captured alive,” the military statement read.In addition, the forces seized significant caches of weapons, including BKM machine guns, AK-47 rifles, and other tactical equipment vital to the militant group.This operation comes amid intensified military campaigns across the Jubbaland state, especially in Lower Juba, where joint offensives by the federal and regional forces have been gaining momentum in recent weeks to root out Al-Shabaab insurgents from their strongholds.
