Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-An interim committee within Somalia’s bicameral Parliament tasked with preparing the groundwork for upcoming elections has appointed Mahdi Mohamed Guled as Chairperson and Senator Iftin Hassan Iman, known as ‘Basta,’ as Deputy Chair.The appointment process, conducted through a raised-hand voting model, was witnessed by the Deputy Speaker of the Lower House, Abdullahi Abshirow and secretaries from both parliamentary houses, according to a statement from the Parliamentary Media Section.The 15-member committee, established last Thursday by House Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur and Senate Speaker Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, is charged with drafting the framework for essential electoral legislation.
