New York, USA(Mogadishu24)–Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Molly Phee, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.The talks focused on key issues including counterterrorism efforts, the security transition following the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), regional stability, and collaboration within the UN Security Council.Assistant Secretary Phee emphasized the need to address regional tensions and finalize plans for the successor mission to ATMIS.The meeting is part of broader U.S. efforts to engage with African leaders on matters of stability and security in the Horn of Africa, as Phee also held discussions with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Taye and other officials on the sidelines of the UNGA.
