MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Somali Police Force announced last night the arrest of Sharif Mohamed Ahmed in connection with the murder of Abdifitah Abdi Osman, a former player of the Somali national football team.According to a police statement, the suspect will be brought before a competent court to face charges related to the case.“The Commander of the General Department of Banadir Police, Mahdi Omar Muumin, has assured that the suspect will be presented to the court with jurisdiction over the matter,” the statement read.Reports from Astaan TV, where Abdifitah worked, stated that he was killed while performing his duties on the morning of 25 May 2025.The Somali Police have also released the name and photo of the suspect, although they have not provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
