Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has dismissed Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale from his role as the Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of the Banadir region, appointing Mohamed Ahmed Amiir as his replacement.

Despite being a novice in political leadership, the President described Amiir as a professional with a strong educational background in economics, social development, and business management.

In his directive, President Hassan Sheikh tasked the new mayor with advancing key developmental priorities for Mogadishu, including:

• Enhancing the city’s infrastructure and aesthetics,
• Delivering basic services to the capital’s residents,
• Improving security in the Banadir region, and
• Preparing for inclusive local elections in the capital.

The President expressed his confidence in Amiri’s capabilities and urged him to serve the Somali people with transparency, dedication, and integrity.

The appointment marks a new chapter for Mogadishu as the government continues efforts to improve governance, public service delivery, and security in the capital.
