Mogadishu – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has lauded the Somali National Army (SNA) and U.S. forces for their successful joint operation that eliminated Mohamed Mire Jama, also known as Abu Abdirahman, a senior leader of the terrorist group Al-Shabaab. The operation, carried out on December 24, 2024, approximately 10 kilometers southwest of Kunyo Barrow in the Lower Shabelle region, is being hailed as a pivotal victory in Somalia’s fight against terrorism.President Mohamud emphasized the significance of the mission in a statement issued by Villa Somalia, noting its impact on regional security and stability. “This joint operation exemplifies the courage and resilience of the SNA and marks a significant milestone in their partnership with U.S. forces in the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab,” he said.The President reiterated Somalia’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, both within its borders and across the region.
