Kismayo(Mogadishu24)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sh. Mohamud is set to attend the 37th Summit of the Heads of States of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which will happen on 17-18 February, 2024.

Speaking at the State House of Jubaland State in Kismayo together with President Ahmed Islam on Thursday morning, President Hassan announced his participation to the African Union Summit and two other high level sidelines meetings by Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD) and the East African Community(EAC) in Addis Ababa.

“We will attend the AU Summit and other two important summits for IGAD and EAC, and we will convey our messages to the heads of states, but we will not compromise our decision rejecting any violation of our country’s sovereignty and unity”, he said.

It’s worth noting that tensions have risen between Somalia and Ethiopia following Addis Ababa’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Somaliland on January 1, 2024.
