Beijing(Mogadishu24)-President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, speaking at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, emphasized Somalia’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with China while addressing key issues such as security, modernization, and peacebuilding.He expressed gratitude for China’s hospitality and stressed the importance of strategic cooperation based on sincerity, real results, and mutual benefit.President Mohamud highlighted Somalia’s ongoing battle against terrorism, particularly the fight against Al-Shabaab, and emphasized the success of joint efforts with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).He shared that over 80 towns and villages have been liberated from terrorist control, with a focus on rebuilding communities by providing essential services.The President also reiterated Somalia’s support for the One China Policy and looked forward to collaborating with China as Somalia takes up its seat as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2025. He called for joint global efforts to combat terrorism and promote lasting peace and development.
