Jigjiga(Mogadishu24)-A high-level delegation led by the President of the Somali State in Ethiopia, Mustafa Muhammed Omer, on Friday visited the West Godey Project to inspect the ongoing maintenance and renovation process of the project.This project, undergoing extensive maintenance and renovation for the last two years, has completed the first phase of 2000 hectares. Currently, 487 hectares of wheat have been planted, following the national plan, with plans to plant corn, sesame, and other cash crops in the coming months.Abdulwahid Muhiyidin, the Project Manager of West Godey, reported that the project will cover a total land area of 7,600 hectares. He added that once completed, it will significantly improve the lives of the local community.The Godey Irrigation Development Project, in collaboration with the Irrigation Development Office of the Somali region and the federal government of Ethiopia, is working on this highly beneficial project for the community.The Somali Regional Administration, in collaboration with various partners, has achieved significant progress in various sectors over the years, including education, water and sanitation, health, agriculture and Irrigation, peace and security.
