Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Federal Republic of Somalia on Saturday strongly accused the Ethiopian Government of obstructing President Hassan’s delegation to attend the 2024 African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, describing the move to proactive attempt.“This action breaches all diplomatic and international protocols and, most critically, the established traditions of the African Union. This behaviour adds to the growing list of erratic actions by the Ethiopian Government in recent times”, Somalia’s Ministry of foreign Affairs said in a statement.“Given that Ethiopia hosts the African Union headquarters, its leadership and government have an obligation to treat all African leaders equally. Hosting the AU is both an honor and a privilege for Ethiopia; however, if its government fails to uphold this honor and responsibility with the necessary decorum, it may be necessary for the African Union to reevaluate the location of its headquarters”, the statement stated. The Government called upon the AU to urgently conduct a credible and independent investigation to this outrageous conduct in line with the protocols of the union, denouncing Ethiopia’s unwarranted action. The Statement comes hours after the Somali President Hassan Sh. Mohamud delivered speech at the 37th AU Summit in Addis Ababa where he reiterated Ethiopia’s violation into the Somali territory, saying its intention was to annex parts of the country into its country.
