Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-In a significant step towards deepening bilateral cooperation, Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, met with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, on Wednesday to discuss mutual interests in key sectors such as the blue economy, fisheries, and mining.The meeting took place at the Kenyan Ministry offices in Nairobi and focused on enhancing ties between the two neighboring countries.Ambassador Abdulle highlighted the untapped potential in both Somalia and Kenya’s maritime and mining sectors, stressing the importance of collaboration for regional growth. “By joining our forces, we can unlock our untapped potential for the benefit of our people,” he said.He also revealed that Somalia and Kenya are in the final stages of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fisheries sector, marking a significant step towards formalizing their cooperation.The discussions were attended by key Kenyan officials, including Principal Secretaries for Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mining, and Shipping and Maritime Affairs, who shared valuable insights on how both countries can leverage their resources to foster economic growth.Cabinet Secretary Joho emphasized the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences with Somalia and other regional partners to fully harness the potential of these sectors.The talks are expected to further strengthen ties between the two nations, aligning their shared interests in the blue economy, water transport, and mining within the broader East African Community (EAC) framework.
